Animal Farm

We just got done finishing the book Animal Farm it was a great book overall. It had extraordinary connections with the Russian Revolution and comparing it to animals. I thought it was cool how they can show that if you want to change something you need to stand up for yourself and not become the person that you took over. One thing that disappointed me was the ending and how it was a cliff hanger it would've been better if they told us what may have happened three years later.

Motivational Speaker.

Today we had a motivational speaker and he was very energetic and helped us with planning for our future and with ourselves. I think we should have him come visit our school each semester, not just to get out of class but to help with learning more about ourselves and help with school.

What I like or don't like about Old Mager is...

I like how he is deeply supportive of the farm animals and takes charge. He is a remarkably good leader in how he presents himself and the way he acts towards them. The speech he gave shows that he can get the point across and be wonderfully persuasive, the points that he gave made sense in how it seems that people just use the animals for what they need and not respect them at all. Another way that I like him is how he makes the animals feel empowered about them selves and feel like they can lead or take over the farmer. But there are some ways that I don't like him; for example, how the farmer can be mean and ruthless towards his animals but that doesn't mean that every single farm or farmer is like that. A farmer could be extraordinarily loving to his animals; such as, free range, livestock and domestic poultry, permitted to graze or forage rather than being confined to a feedlot. Which is a better way of life for the animals. There might even be farmers that don't sell the products in which their animal produces and just keeps them like a pet.

What is power?

Power is something that has a strong sense in your life that you tend to use or not use in your life, it can be how you are or something might be very powerful in your life that influences you in ways that can be good or bad. Someone can earn power by following and achieving tasks that they decide to get them in a higher stature, or they can earn it by wanting it all the time and having a desire for it. As a result, power can be lost by if you lose interest in it and you don't care for it anymore, or you just weaken. The thing that holds most power in my life would be my friends and music, my friends is all that I can go to and have a great time with, and music helps me when I'm in a bad mood just to listen to something to calm me down, or to put me at ease. I find that my personality makes me powerful, because I can talk to anyone and make a lot of people laugh, and making people gives me a good power just to be able to make people laugh makes me feel good that I might have brightened someone's day.

Cause/Effect Essay

An "eating disorder" is when a person eats, or refuses to eat, in order to satisfy a mental need and not a physical need. The person doesn't listen to body signals or is not even aware of them. Eating disorders are normally recognized as anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa or binge eating disorder. However, a person may have an eating disorder without fitting into any of these categories. "It is estimated that 8 million Americans have an eating disorder – seven million women". While some people argue the reason for so many girls suffering from eating disorders are the media, parents, and guys, it's all of those combined to feel pressured into being perfect.

Some effects that might cause eating disorders aren't always what you think. For instance, the media and how the woman on these television shows and magazines can make woman feel like they're standards are low and that they need to reach the beauty of the actresses and models. Due to this, many men would like to have a model as a girlfriend so they want the average girls to be perfect, which only makes them hate how they look because they can't reach that level, so they have to resort to an eating disorder so they will be perfect. Another way, would be that it's because of their parents and how they might not get enough attention from them, so they feel like they need to resort to an eating disorder so that maybe their parents will care for them and pay more attention to them.

The main cause for girls that suffer from eating disorders is feeling the pressure to be perfect. A reason for these girls feeling pressured might be from what they see on magazines and how girls are portrayed. When you look at magazines it shows all these skinny pretty looking girls but never average ones to make the girls feel like they might be more than normal. Another way would be guys and how they normally want someone that's perfect, because of this you'll feel pressured to look your best all the time and they might make you feel horrible about yourself if they think your ugly.

This evidence connects to the main idea by relating because both of those you have the feeling to be perfect. This issue is extremely important because many girls suffer from this and if they don't stop then they might even end up with more serious problems in the future.
